Cumberland Council was joined by local volunteers at No. 6 Mine Park on Monday April 28 to celebrate the opening of the new climbing boulder.

“This was a project that was truly championed by our community members, volunteers, and contractors; many of whom are with us today. I would like to thank each of you for your generous donations of time and resources to make this facility possible. I am sure climbers of all ages will appreciate having a facility such as this to train, practice and play on every single day,” said Mayor Vickey Brown prior to a formal ribbon cutting celebration.

The Village of Cumberland would like to thank: AFC Construction who donated management, supervision, equipment, and materials; Cumberland Earthworks who contributed machinery and labour; Slegg who donated building materials, NW Homes Ltd. and Lafarge who contributed gravel and key materials to the project, and Piotr Lutynski, whom we can thank for his vision and generosity in making the project happen.
