Comox welcomes the Comox Valley Farmers' Market Association this summer to the Comox Community Centre.

The Town of Comox is thrilled to welcome the Comox Valley Farmers' Market Association (CVFMA) to the field of the Comox Community Centre at 1855 Noel Avenue this summer. Starting Wednesday, June 25, residents and visitors will be able to shop for fresh, local food every week until August 27, from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m.

The CVFMA has been making, baking, growing, raising, and wild harvesting food in the region since 1992. With a strong focus on local agriculture and sustainability, the market supports over 60 per cent participation from farmers and fishers and is known as a food-first market. Only a limited number of body care and value-added products, such as beeswax candles and soaps, are permitted.

“We’re very excited to expand into Comox and bring fresh locally produced goods directly to this part of the Valley,” said Twila Skinner, Comox Valley Farmers’ Market Association General Manager. “This market is about much more than just food – it’s about supporting our farmers and fishers, building community, and increasing accessibility.”

The new Comox market becomes the third location operated by the CVFMA, joining their year-round Saturday market in Courtenay and the Sunday market in Cumberland.

“The farmers’ market is a much-anticipated addition to our summer season in Comox,” said Nicole Minions, Comox Mayor. “Town Council is excited to welcome this community-focused market to a centrally located gathering hub. It supports food security, and our commitment to sustainability and healthy living activities for all ages.”

The CVFMA team is working closely with Town staff at the Comox Community to finalize logistics, including parking and weather contingency planning. In the coming weeks, CVFMA will also reach out to nearby residents to discuss the plans for the Comox Community Centre field.
