The Comox Valley ATV Club wants to say thanks to the community’s first responders, and raise some money for YANA at the same time.
The club is hosting a barbecue party, Saturday at the Comox Legion hall, 1825 Comox Ave. from 12:30 - 2:30 p.m.
The barbecue is free for all first responders and their families, and the public is invited. For $5, you can have lunch, say thanks to a few community heroes, and know your money is going to a great cause. You Are Not Alone - YANA - helps Comox Valley families who need to travel for medical services for their children.
“We want to say thanks and recognize all the hard-working emergency first response personnel of the Comox Valley with a big barbecue feast,” said Ted Meszaros of the Comox Valley ATV Club. “All the money raised will go to YANA.”
This will be the third year of the event, and the first year that it is open to the public.
“We’ve been doing this event for three years, and every year we want to beat our goal and do better for YANA and want to show a bigger thanks to all the emergency people,” said Meszaros.
Last year, the fundraiser collected $1,463 for YANA.
“We are hoping to beat that this year and we are already at $1,000 in donations [as of Tuesday] so we’re getting there,” said Mezsaros.
