The Comox Valley Red Cross Health Equipment Loan Program (HELP) needs help of its own.
The organizers are putting out a call for volunteers to come keep the office productive five days per week.
The HELP program takes referrals for people who need specialized medical equipment — anything from wheelchairs to bath lifts — and loans them out. However, with a few volunteer vacancies and staffing levels as they are currently, they are struggling to meet their demands.
"The office is run by volunteers who dedicate four hours per week to serve the public," a release from the organization says. "At present, our team of volunteers is aging and we are in need of one or two new people."
The office is open Monday to Friday between 9:30 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. Duties include data entry on computers, filing requests for equipment, responding to phone inquiries and receiving loaned equipment that has come due.
"Every day, we have a team of two that run the front desk," the release says. "If you have some computer skills or enjoy relating to the public, we would love to have you join our team."
The office is located at 2683 Moray Avenue in Courtenay. Those interested can apply by visiting the office, or calling 250 334 1557.
