The elves at Santa’s Workshop are happy to announce that the traditional holiday initiative that brings gifts to children in need in the Comox Valley will be back in operation for the 2021 Christmas Season.
Santa’s Workshop helps parents of the Comox Valley with children aged up to 15.
Santa’s “elves” receive, repair, and restore donated ‘gently used’ toys and then redistribute them to families in need, ensuring as many children as possible in the Comox Valley have something to unwrap on Christmas Day.
With thanks to the generosity of Galaxy Motors, the Workshop will be located at 250 Old Island Highway – formerly the site of the Finneron Hyundai car dealership.
It will be open effective Nov. 2 from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Monday to Friday for receiving new and used toys, cash donations and to make appointments to “shop.” Please call 250-897-0098 to book an appointment date and time. Actual appointments are available from Dec. 1-22. There is plenty of on-site parking at this location.
Due to COVID restrictions, all those bringing in items or those who are shopping must wear a mask while on the site. There will also be several areas within the Workshop where hand sanitizing supplies will be available.
“We ask that all those who make appointments, please arrive on time, as our schedule – due to COVID – relies on strict time-frames,” said volunteer Barb Metheral. “If a time is late or missed, it will have to be re-booked at another time.”
So start going through your “inventory” early if you have anything you can donate.
Santa’s Elves are looking forward to another great Christmas Season. “We’re delighted to be back, after missing 2020 due to COVID restrictions,” said Metheral. “Thanks goes out to the residents of the Comox Valley for supporting our workshop over so many years, and it’s because of your ongoing assistance that we have been able to continue doing what we do. You are part of a team effort that is so much appreciated by all us ‘elves’ at the workshop. Let’s make our 2021 season another really successful year!”
