Vancouver Island author and historian Catherine Marie Gilbert will present an in-person pictorial talk based on her new book, A Journey Back to Nature: A History of Strathcona Provincial Park, 7 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 5 at the Courtenay and District Museum.
Enjoy never before seen archival photos and a fascinating account of the century-long effort to define, access, preserve, develop, and exploit the uniquely beautiful Strathcona area of rugged wilderness in the centre of Vancouver Island.

Catherine Gilbert is an accomplished author, lecturer, and historic interpreter. She was awarded her master’s degree in public history from UVic in 2018, after completing her thesis based on the environmental history of Strathcona Provincial Park.
