The annual Hot August Nights car show is coming up at The Park at Crown Isle.

The event will be held on Saturday, Aug. 9, following a cruise night the night before. This will be the 8th time the show — billed as the Romeo St. Jacques Memorial Classic Cars on the Green — is held. A release from Crown Isle says it is St. Jacques "was respected and loved by everyone who knew him or worked with him. He lived his life always seeing the bright side of any situation with a smile on his face when he greeted you.  He was a hot-rodding legend in Port Alberni and to this day the 1932 Ford Roadster leads our Comox Valley Cruise in his honour."

The event starts with the Comox Valley Cruise on the streets of Crown Isle on Aug. 8 starting at 7 p.m. The cruise will loop through Comox and Courtenay before returning to Crown Isle. There will be a route map in the Aug. 6 edition of the Record. Then, on Aug. 9 people are invited to come to The Park at Crown Isle to see the over 500 cars on display. Cars will be on display on the fairways of The Park golf course, at 1239 Anderton Road in Comox. Spectator entry will be $15 person with youth 12 and under free.

The Romeo St. Jacques Memorial has always had a charitable focus, and this year CV Cyclepaths will be on site raising funds for Comox Valley Hospice Society. There will be 50/50 tickets at the show, and draw prizes including a return trip from Pacific ̨ÍåMMÂãÁÄÊÒ Airlines.

There is no parking along Anderton Road or at The Park. However, organizers have set up a Park and Ride from Gagliardi Academy at 1475 Noel Ave in Comox with shuttle buses travelling back and forth all day.

Those interested in adding their car to the show can still do so by registering online at crownisle.com, but organizers say "only cars that fit the show criteria will be officially registered, but all cars are welcome to participate in the ... cruise."
