Graduating students from the Mark R. Isfeld Interact Club are leaving behind more than just memories — they’re leaving a lasting impact on literacy in their community.
This year, the club has donated funds to Books 4 Brains, a Comox-based organization dedicated to encouraging reading and fostering a love of literacy among young students.
Books Brains has launched a powerful reading initiative, ensuring that every kindergarten and grade 1 student in the district receives three brand-new books and a tote of their choice. Each year, the organization gives away approximately 4,000 books, helping to nurture a strong foundation for lifelong learning.
The Mark R. Isfeld Interact Club, sponsored by the Rotary Club of Comox, has long been a force for good in the community. With the motto “Youth helping youth,” the club is dedicated to making a positive difference. Throughout the year, members engage in fundraising efforts, volunteer at local events, and carry out impactful service projects.
This past year, the Interact Club has led several major initiatives, including a Food Bank Drive, Shoebox Campaign, Stuffy Drive for North Island Hospital, Book Drive, Care-A-Van support, and a cleanup effort with MARS (Mountainaire Avian Rescue Society). Their commitment to service underscores the values of leadership, compassion, and community building.
The donation to Books Brains ensures that young readers in the district have access to quality books, empowering them to explore the world through storytelling and learning. As the graduating students move forward to new adventures, they leave behind a legacy that will continue to inspire literacy for years to come.
Their dedication proves that when young leaders work together, they can spark real change — one book at a time.
