Winter gardening discussed at first Comox Valley Horticultural Society meeting of 2021

The Comox Valley Horticultural Society welcomes Arzeena Hamir as the guest speaker at the first meeting of 2021.

Join them via Zoom on Monday, Jan. 18 at 7 p.m. to learn how to grow and harvest vegetables in these dark months of winter. That is right, it is not too late to fill those empty garden spaces!

With a degree in crop science and a master’s in sustainable agriculture from the University of London (England), Hamir has settled in the Comox Valley and is an organic farmer and agronomist. Along with her husband, they own and run Amara Farm, a 26-acre certified organic vegetable and blueberry farm, in Merville. They are also one of the founding members of the Merville Organics Growers Co-operative. Arzeena is passionate when it comes to teaching folks about food production and growing unusual vegetables. Don’t miss this opportunity to learn how you can grow vegetables year-round.

All current CVHS members will receive a Zoom invitation prior to this meeting. For anyone who is not currently a member, but would like to attend this meeting are welcome to do so, for a $5.50 fee.
