Award-winning poet and author Joseph Dandurand will deliver a reading at the Comox Valley Art Gallery Wednesday, May 24, at 5:30 p.m.
The event is free and everyone is welcome to attend.
Dandurand is a member of Kwantlen First Nation, located on the Fraser River near Vancouver. He is the director of the Kwantlen Cultural Centre and is also the heritage/lands officer for his people.
His 2019 poetry collection 鈥淭he East Side of It All鈥� was shortlisted for Griffin Poetry Prize. In 2021 he received the Lieutenant Governor鈥檚 Award for Literary Excellence.
The reading takes place with just a few days to go in the 鈥淩eturn to Water鈥� program currently showing at CVAG.
The program includes the 鈥淕o Fish鈥� video installation created by Scott Smith and Nettie Wild, the 鈥溙ㄍ錗M裸聊室 Camera Obscura 3鈥� installation created by Donald Lawrence, and the exhibiton鈥渁s the wind blew: the ground beneath me, at the water鈥檚 edge, in its path鈥� created by artist Sarah Crawley.
