How much do you know of Canada’s history? Do you recall the days of leaded gasoline and stubby beer bottles? Or is your knowledge of Canada more contemporary since you’re a fan of pop music? What you may know could surprise you.
You can test your skills at an upcoming trivia night at the Comox Legion. Quizmaster Alex Kennedy has been writing questions for the local C.A.T.S. charity trivia nights for the last couple of years, and on June 6 will host a similar event showcasing Canadian-based facts about history, pop culture, and geography amongst other subjects.
The beneficiary of the fundraising night will be the Wounded Warriors Battlefield Bike Ride, which is being held in the Netherlands in September for the commemoration of Canada’s role in the liberation of that country 80 years ago. It should come as no surprise to attendees that a few of the trivia questions will pertain to Canada’s military history.
“I’ve participated on these bike rides before, and I am happy to keep supporting the endeavour,” says Kennedy. “The charity is meaningful to me as I’ve met plenty of kind and thoughtful participants from all walks of life. The organization provides resources for veterans, first responders and their families who’ve been affected by PTSD and other injuries. I come from a military family and I wish there had been such a program when I was growing up.”
The trivia event will be held upstairs at the Comox Legion on Friday June 6 at 7pm. Tickets ($20) can be purchased at the door, or can be purchased in advance at . More information about the charity can be found at .
