The Pearl Ellis Gallery is proud to present the new exhibit, Abundance, running from Aug. 19 to Sept. 13.
The exhibition combines the richness of artistic expression, featuring works in a wide range of mediums, styles, and subject matter.
With a combination of painting to photography, fibre arts to sculpture, the Abundance exhibition showcases the talent and creativity of local artists who all bring their own vision of the theme.
Visitors can expect a varied mix of bold colours, delicate details, abstract visions and realistic scenes that reflect the Comox Valley arts community.
“This is one of a few paintings I’ve done of the Comox Marina from photo references I’ve taken there at different times of the year. This particular one was taken in August three years ago. I thought the bright yellow and playful abstraction of the yarrow was such a pleasant contrast to the plain expanse of blue sky reflected in the water, and the ‘bonus’ of a red umbrella.” reflects Lynne Sweetman about her painting, ‘Yarrow at Comox Marina.’ “I see the marina as reflecting the ‘abundance’ of beauty, wealth, and commerce in our valley.”
An opening reception will be held on Saturday, Aug. 23, from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m., where visitors can meet the artists and enjoy light refreshments.
The Pearl Ellis Gallery is a non-profit organization dedicated to showcasing local artists. The Pearl is located at 1729 Comox Avenue, across from the Comox Mall. Hours are Tuesday to Saturday, 10 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Admission is always free, and all are welcome.
