Celebrated trumpeter and bandleader Greg Bush returns to the stage at 40 Knots Winery for the 2025 edition of the beloved “Jazz Among the Vines” series.
A musical mainstay in the Comox Valley and beyond, Bush brings not only his fiery trumpet but a dynamite ensemble of some of BC’s finest jazz talent.
Based in Nanaimo, Bush is no stranger to local music lovers. He makes the weekly trek to Courtenay as director of the Georgia Strait Big Band and as a dedicated mentor to community musicians. With degrees from Concordia and McGill University, and past teaching posts in Texas and B.C., Bush blends deep musical scholarship with stage-tested chops.
Joining him for this special performance is James Darling on keyboards. A seasoned cruise ship performer and a core part of VIU’s jazz scene, Darling brings versatility from R&B to vocal jazz.
Cayleigh Borsboom on saxophone, a Humber College alum and local powerhouse, known for her precision, passion, and stage presence.
Adam Robertson on drums, a dynamic drummer and composer with roots in Powell River. Robertson adds texture and drive to every performance, whether it’s modern jazz, R&B, or experimental grooves.
Steve Wallace on bass, one of Canada’s foremost jazz bassists, who has toured and recorded with legends like Zoot Sims, Ray Bryant, and Rosemary Clooney.
