The Comox Valley Chamber of Commerce, in partnership with CV/Arts, is proud to present Material Matters, the latest installment in the Chamber’s quarterly rotating art exhibition series at the Chamber Business Hub.

Featuring 21 works by 17 local artists, Material Matters explores the significance of material choice in artistic practice. This compelling exhibition highlights how medium, when used with intention and experimentation, can communicate meaning, challenge perception and amplify the artist’s message.

Inspired by the Chamber’s role as a hub of innovation, Material Matters celebrates creative ingenuity and showcases the deep connection between art, business and community development in the Comox Valley.

The Chamber invites the public to attend a free opening reception on Thursday, May 8 from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Chamber Business Hub in Downtown Courtenay. Attendees will have the opportunity to meet the artists, explore the exhibit, and enjoy light refreshments.

“This exhibition reflects the same values that drive innovation in business—intentionality, experimentation, and bold thinking,” says Tracey Clarke, Executive Director of the Comox Valley Chamber of Commerce. “We’re proud to offer a space where artistic expression and entrepreneurial spirit come together.”

Material Matters is presented in collaboration with CV/Arts, the Comox Valley’s community arts council. CV/Arts’ mission is to provide access to cultural resources and opportunities, supporting the cultural vitality of the region. This exhibition is part of a quarterly series featuring rotating contributions from CV/Arts, ARTWRX Studio/Gallery Society, I-Hos Gallery, and Spirits of the West Coast Art Gallery.

The Chamber Business Hub is open to the public Monday to Friday, 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. For more information about the exhibit or the Chamber’s creative initiatives, visit or contact info@comoxvalleychamber.com.
