The Comox Valley Newcomers Club donated $2,000 to Comox Valley Search and Rescue.

Newcomers president Anne Winters presented the cheque to Paul Berry during the Newcomers Club's June meeting.

Each year, Newcomers’ Club members choose an organization to support through fundraising and the 2024/25 recipient was Comox Valley Search and Rescue. The Comox Valley Newcomers’ Club is a non-profit organization that has been nurturing friendships among women since 1988.

"Our social club is open to women of all ages who have resided in the Comox Valley for less than two years," a release from the club says.

CVSAR is a 100 per cent volunteer-run organization providing a wide range of search and rescue services from Oyster River in the north to Cook Creek in the south and from Buttle Lake in the west to the Georgia Strait in the east, including Denman and Hornby Islands.
