Hundreds of classic car enthusiasts have descended upon Greater Victoria for the highly anticipated return of Northwest Deuce Days.

The event, which features 1932 Fords and pre-1952 vehicles, promises a weekend of stunning displays and community camaraderie.

The festivities kicked off on Thursday, July 17 as hundreds of meticulously restored and customized cars disembarked from the MV Coho Ferry, arriving from Port Angeles, Wash.

Spectators lined Belleville Street, from Menzies to Oswego Streets, to witness the spectacle.

An impromptu parade followed, showcasing the classic hotrods that would be featured throughout the weekend.

Adding a touch of local charm, flowers were presented to each of the arriving vehicles.

"You can see nothing but friendship and fraternity between our American guests who have just arrived and our Canadian hosts,” remarked Paul Nursey, CEO of Destination Greater Victoria (DGV). “This is why we're involved – it's all about people-to-people connections at a time like this.”

Nursey also highlighted the event's positive impact on local businesses and its contribution to Greater Victoria's global appeal.

DGV chair Christopher Watson echoed the sentiment, comparing the gathering to "a museum on wheels."

He noted the strong connection between the participants, evidenced by the Canadian flags proudly displayed on many vehicles.

The event continues on Saturday, July 19, with the So-Cal Speed Shop Poker Run, which will transform Dallas Road into the "Rainbow Road" in what might be the world's most beautiful traffic jam. Staging will begin at 7 a.m., and the Poker Run will start at 9 a.m.

The main event, Northwest Deuce Days, will take place on Sunday, July 20, taking over Victoria's Inner Harbour.

Over 1,000 classic collector's vehicles from around the world will be on display.

The weekend will conclude with the Deuce Day Awards at 3 p.m. on the Legislative Lawn, where the most outstanding hotrods will be recognized.

“This is just day one, and what an exciting turnout,” said one delighted bystander near the Coho Blackball Ferry Line terminal, reflecting the excitement felt throughout the city.

promises to be a memorable weekend for both classic car enthusiasts and the Greater Victoria community alike.
