Summer is in full swing, and so are the Royal BC Museum’s new programs and activities.
Visitors are able to get expert insights with weekly tours of spaces both inside and outside the museum walls.
Tours take place from Tuesday to Sunday, featuring exciting topics like native plants, the soundtrack of resistance and change, Chinese Canadian history and more.
Meanwhile, live recitals will inspire you on select Sundays from 3-3:45 p.m. in July and August.
Provincial carillonneur Rosemary Laing uses bells of the Netherlands Centennial Carillon, featuring songs written for the carillon, Canadian folk tunes and some other popular songs.
Don’t forget about Helmcken House this summer. Open daily from noon to 2 p.m., it’s one of the oldest houses in B.C. still located on its original site.
An inspiring market is also coming to the museum. The return of the Summer Indigenous Market will highlight the works of talented Indigenous makers and artists on July 18 and 19, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Then, on July 24 from 2-6 p.m., the team at Ocean Wise is bringing their Ocean Wise Sea Dome, a portable 360-degree theatre that offers an unforgettable journey through the world’s oceans and the impacts of climate change.
Adult-only fun is on the docket that same night with the After Hours: Rock On event. Eat, drink and explore the Beyond the Beat: Music of Resistance and Change exhibition, with interactive pop-up stations.
Looking ahead to August, Deadheads will gather for the premiere of the Grateful Dead Movie 2025 Meet-up for the 60th anniversary. On Aug. 14-17, there will be special screenings of the movie with bonus live footage at the
