A detour is planned for east-bound traffic on Comox Ave. starting in mid-April.

Traffic on Comox Avenue will become one-way in sections near Rodello Street later this month.

The Comox Valley Regional District announced the traffic pattern change as part of the Comox Valley Sewer Conveyance Project, as well as Town of Comox infrastructure upgrades. Beginning in mid-April, Comox Avenue will become one-way in sections beginning at Rodello Street, with traffic flowing west towards Glacier View Drive.

Estimated start date for construction on Comox Avenue is April 14, 2025. Construction will take place Monday to Friday, 7:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m. Traffic will be one-way through the construction zone 24 hours per day.

Two-way bike and pedestrian traffic will be possible on Comox Avenue through the construction zone.

Construction on Comox Avenue is estimated to span the duration of April to October 2025. There will be multiple phases of construction, including sewer forcemain work, Town of Comox infrastructure upgrades, new cement curbs and sidewalks, paving, as well as the construction of two new roundabouts at Glacier View Drive and Rodello Street. Construction will be sequenced to maximize the time that eastbound vehicular traffic can travel from Comox Road hill into Comox, and regular updates to those who live and work in the corridor will be provided. The Regional District posted online that:

- The public is advised that one or more sections of Comox Avenue from Rodello Street to Glacier View Drive could become one-way at short notice and to plan for the potential of one-way westbound traffic in this area.

- Detour signs will be up for residents who reside within construction zones or will be impacted by the construction.

- Drivers are advised to add extra time to their commutes, watch for detour signage, and follow posted speed limits.

- Businesses on Comox Avenue are open during construction. Please follow the detour routes to continue to visit shops and businesses on Comox Avenue.

- Construction is subject to suitable weather conditions or other possible construction-related delays. We apologize if timelines shift.
