Cumberland village council has been opposed to the idea of a governance review since it was first brought forward in 2014 by the Comox Valley Chamber of Commerce.
“We have never supported the governance review,” says Cumberland Mayor Leslie Baird. “We are working fine as we are as a community governing ourselves, and we feel we would like to continue that.”
Council will also be sending a letter to the Comox Valley Regional District, the Inspector of Municipalities and the Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing, raising their concerns about the CVRD providing $10,000 to the Comox Valley Chamber of Commerce to promote the review.
