Strathcona Crescent to remain closed until fall

The change comes due to the increased volume of traffic using Strathcona Crescent.

More changes are coming to traffic going between Courtenay and Comox as the CVRD's Sewer Conveyance Project continues.

As part of the project, the regional district is required to close Strathcona Crescent and Corker Avenue at Back Road starting on Monday, June 9.

"This traffic pattern change will make the eastern end of Back Road past McDonald Road a no through road," a release from the regional district says. "Additional signage will be installed on Back Road prior to McDonald Road to inform drivers of this traffic change."

The change comes due to the increased volume of traffic using Strathcona Crescent.

"The Comox Valley Sewer Conveyance Project has been monitoring traffic speed and volumes along the Back Road corridor at various locations. Due to the volume of vehicle traffic using Strathcona Crescent, the closures are required as per the Traffic Management Plan (TMP)," the release says. "It is estimated that the road closures of Strathcona Crescent and Corker Avenue will be in place until the fall of 2025."
