Open burning ban comes into effect May 30 at noon for Union Bay, Fanny Bay

Due to an increased risk of wildfire, all open burning is hereby prohibited within the Union Bay and Fanny Bay Fire Protection Areas as of noon Friday May 30, 2025 until further notice.

This ban includes fires considered Category two, backyard burning, including: binary exploding targets, fireworks, burn barrels or burn cages of any size or description, controlled air incinerators. 

Fires under Category three, industrial burning, air curtain burners and carbonizers are also banned.

Campfires, CSA-rated or ULC-rated campfire appliances fuelled by propane, natural gas, or briquettes are allowed, provided they are used in accordance with manufacturer specifications and local bylaws.

Violations of this ban may result in fines and/or charges.
