VIDEO: Comox air cadets take steps toward aviation career

Sixty-two cadets graduated from the Advanced Aviation Course on July 27

Sixty-two air cadets took part in a graduation parade on Friday, celebrating their completion of the Advanced Aviation Course.

The three-week long course gives cadets in-depth exposure to key aviation topics such as aero engines, theory of flight and navigation.

“It’s very intense; they’re writing eight exams in three weeks,” said Warrant Officer 1st Class Bayley Hollingsworth who graduated from the same course in 2015 and was in charge of all cadets throughout the course.

“You get a very big range of what you’re going to be doing in the aviation world and it really prepares you for those next steps you want to take in your aviation career.”

Reviewing officer, Christine Welch, inspected the cadets during the parade and addressed them after her review was complete.

“When you arrived here three weeks ago, you did so as an individual full of excitement, apprehension and some, the fear of the unknown. This afternoon, you paraded as a very proud team. This is a credit to your hard work and dedication.”

A second intake of cadets will also complete the course this summer.
