City of Courtenay honours RCMP Auxiliary Const. Bill Borland

Comox Valley RCMP Auxiliary Const. Bill Borland was honoured with a Certificate of Appreciation by the City of Courtenay.

Comox Valley RCMP Auxiliary Const. Bill Borland is dedicated to helping the community in many ways, particularly when it comes to supporting youth.

He was honoured for that work Monday when Courtenay Acting Mayor Jon Ambler and Comox Valley RCMP Inspector Tom Gray presented him with a Certificate of Appreciation from the city.

Ambler praised Borland's community involvement.

"Any time you go around the community, people will see things and go 'you know, somebody should do something about that,'" he said. "Bill Borland is the somebody who does something about that. When you look at his record of accomplishments here in the Valley, he's been involved in programs to stop bullying in schools, he's been involved in programs to stop people from getting involved in drugs, he's been involved in programs to stop graffiti. The common thread here is community involvement, working with the youth to make this community better and in particular to help the youth develop fully and become great citizens."

On behalf of the City of Courtenay, Ambler presented Borland with a Certificate of Appreciation, which stated that "among his many accomplishments, (Borland) has served the Comox Valley with dedication and distinction as an RCMP auxiliary for the Comox Valley RCMP detachment" and recognized Borland's "devoted and outstanding service" to the municipality.

Gray expressed his gratitude and appreciation for Borland's hard work on behalf of the detachment.

"Your support is incredible to the community," he said.
