Comox Valley RCMP are seeking to identify a male believed to be responsible for a crime spree overnight Sunday.
Seeco Automotive on McPhee Avenue in Courtenay was broken into overnight May 1. The culprit then gained access to the keys matching a blue Ford pickup in the parking lot, then stole the pickup.
At approximately 5:30 a.m. on May 2, neighbours in the 400 block of Harmston Avenue in Courtenay heard squealing tires. The property owner later discovered significant damage to her mature and most likely irreplaceable hedge.
A licence plate belonging to the stolen pickup was left at the scene of the damaged hedge.
Moments later, the police responded to a motor vehicle collision off-road at Piercy Road and Dove Creek in Courtenay. The male driver fled the scene on foot into a nearby field.
Extensive patrols failed to locate the driver. The stolen truck sustained significant damage.
The male driver is described as Caucasian, smaller build, short brown hair, in his early 20s or possibly late teens with a height of approximately five feet, 10 inches.
Police are requesting anyone with information on any of these three incidents to call the Comox Valley RCMP at 250-338-1321. To remain anonymous, you can call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
