One person was taken to hospital by air ambulance after a single vehicle crash in Parksville Thursday afternoon (June 19).
Emergency services responded to the collision in the 700 block of Hirst Avenue West, according to Sgt. Shane Worth of the Oceanside RCMP, who added the vehicle struck a tree.
BC Emergency Health Services was called at 1:36 p.m. and responded with an air ambulance with critical care paramedics on board, as well as an ambulance, according to Paramedic Public Information Officer Brian Twaites
The paramedics provided emergency medical treatment to one patient, who was taken to hospital in serious, but stable condition, Twaites said.
Parksville Fire Rescue crews worked with BC EHS to remove the patient from the vehicle as there was a small amount of smoke coming from the engine compartment, according to Assistant Fire Chief Cam Cruickshank.
The road was closed for a short time as crews set up a landing zone for the air ambulance.
No criminality is suspected in the crash, according to police.
