RCMP seek witnesses to multicar accident on Hwy 19A, near Fanny Bay

Comox Valley RCMP and BC Highway Patrol Campbell River are seeking witnesses to an incident near Fanny Bay on July 31, 2025.

Comox Valley RCMP and BC Highway Patrol (BCHP) Campbell River were called to a multi-vehicle accident in the afternoon of July 31, 2025 on Hwy 19A near Fanny Bay.

Multiple vehicles were involved in the collision, including two cars towing trailers. One man was badly injured in the crash and succumbed to his injuries.

A suspect was arrested on the scene, and it is believed alcohol was a factor in the collision. The suspect has since been released pending further investigation.

BCHP Campbell River have taken control of the investigation, which is still in its infancy.

“We are seeking any witness or people with dash camera footage who have been travelling on Hwy 19A in Fanny Bay between the Fanny Bay Wharf and the Rosewall log sort,” says Cpl. Brett Urano, RCMP spokesperson. “If you were travelling in this area on July 31st between the hours of 3:30 p.m. and 4:15 p.m. and have not spoken to an investigator please contact us at 250-286-5690.”
