Cumberland council has a new temporary chief administrative officer.

Last month, the Village announced it had retained the services of an interim CAO. Tanalee Hesse started work in late September to provide overall management of municipal operations under the direction of council while the Village is looking for its new permanent CAO.

“Tanalee will be a great asset to council and to Village staff while we search for Cumberland’s next chief administrative officer,” Mayor Leslie Baird said. “Tanalee has over 20 years experience as a CAO and comes to us from her last position as CAO with the Village of Hazelton.”

At the Oct. 15 regular meeting, Coun. Jesse Ketler pointed out Hesse had joined them at the recent Union of British Columbia Municipalities from Sept. 23 to 27 and sat in on meetings with provincial ministries. Ketler asked Hesse how she was doing for her first few weeks as interim CAO.

“I’m just plugging away with staff and trying to keep everything moving,” Hesse said. “I’ve only really been here for two weeks, so not a lot to report yet.”
