May 28, 2018
It is with sadness we announce the passing after a short illness of Al Pollon aged 88 on May 28th 2018. Al was born in Minnedosa, Manitoba to Margaret and Frank Pollon. He joined the Armed Forces in 1951 where his postings allowed him and his family to live throughout Europe and Canada. When he "retired" in 1981 he began new careers of working with the Cadets at Quadra in Comox for 10 years, and as a Commissioner for 25 years.
Al was a proud and dedicated member of the Masons Hiram Lodge #14, taking on many positions including Worshipful Master and DDGM as well as a member of the Order of Eastern Star Florence Chapter #53 where he served as Worthy Patron 6 times. Al was a long time member of St. George's United Church where he graced many a song in their choir.
A man of integrity and kindness for all who had his family as his first love and priority. A day fishing or watching a hockey game came a close second. Al was also known for his "make do" ingenuity to solving problems or making repairs and was very creative in his woodwork shop.
He will be forever loved by his wife of 64 years Ellie, daughters Brenda (Michael), Linda (Brad) and Carl (Barbie), grandsons Curtis (Shannon), Bryce (Missy), Taylor and great granddaughter Brynlee and his sister Joyce.
Al was predeceased by brothers Murray and Jimmy. The family wishes to thank the wonderful staff at Comox Valley Hospital and the Cancer Agency. No service by Al's request.
"Tight Lines Dad"
The world may change year to year
And Friends from day to day
But never will the one I loved
From memory pass away
