1931-2017
It is with heavy hearts we announce that Cal passed away peacefully with his family by his side, following complications of numerous ailments.
Born in Gladstone, Manitoba in 1931 he passed away January 16, 2017.
He is survived by his loving wife Mattie of 64 years and two sons, Rob (Manon) of Nanoose Bay and Chris (Cathy) of Penticton, BC, by his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, also survived by his sister-in-law Marion. Numerous nieces, nephews and their spouses as well as cousins Eileen Milne (WPG) and Vern Williams (Vernon BC).
Predeceased by his parents his brother Harold, sister Elsie Petit, brother-in-law Gil and cousin Don Riches.
Cal started his mechanical career in Gladstone, Manitoba, went on to work at various garages in North Bay, Ont. and Malkin Ford in Courtenay. He spend 17 years with Dept. of Hwys before taking early retirement to enjoy his rural property on Headquarters Rd, in Merville. He spent 43 years there, you could always find him attending to his raspberry garden, bucking up firewood or driving around on his tractor. Failing health made it necessary to move into Courtenay 6 陆 years ago.
