December 10, 1946 - July 25, 2020
With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Danielle Laver who lost her battle with lung cancer on July 25, 2020, at the age of 73.
She leaves behind her son Bryce, her brother John and countless of dear friends in the area and around the world.
Danielle was born in Luton, England on December 10, 1946. A young woman with many talents and a zest for life and travel, she eventually settled down in the beautiful Comox valley.
At age 41, she welcomed her only child. Danielle was an exceptional mother who was fully devoted to her son, to raising him well and exposing him to everything good the world has to offer from an early age.
Independent, energetic, adventurous and savvy, Danielle had a successful career as a hairdresser and enjoyed her many hobbies (cycling, theater, reading, sewing, cooking, wine), making many great friends along the way.
She was an avid traveler - always planning trips, solo or with friends, to exciting new corners of the world. Her adventures took her camping in Africa, biking through Europe, exploring China, Cuba, Australia and many more. Her stories and sense of humour were captivating, her laughter and positivity - contagious. Even cancer couldn't slow her down and keep her from enjoying the little things in life and planning the next big adventure. Above all, Danielle cherished every moment spent with family and her grand-dog, Guinness.
Danielle was an extraordinary woman who loved and lived life to the fullest. She remained strong, positive and gracious until the very end. She will be dearly missed, but her kind, fun and adventurous spirit will live on in the memories of all those that loved her.
We would like to thank Danielle's closest friends, Jane and Lorraine, her neighbours, Murry/Leslie and Mike/Sylvia, and Danielle's care team - all her doctors, especially Dr. Itta Winter, as well as home care, palliative and hospital nurses and staff.
In keeping with Danielle's wishes, no formal ceremony will be held. In leu of flowers, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society made in her name will be gratefully accepted.
