In Loving Memory ~
With grieving hearts we announce that Diana Paige died on May 1, 2025, after living with cancer for more than four years. She died in her home surrounded by love, on a clear night with the moon and stars shining above.
Diana was born in Vancouver to Australian parents Bruce and Mary Paige, living next to Stanley Park. From an early age, she loved to explore, and developed what would be lifelong curiosity, and a love of nature. She also moved across the Pacific Ocean to Australia for a time as a child. Developing a love for genealogy, she retained close ties with family and history throughout her life.
After graduating from St Margaret's school in Victoria, she met her husband Ron Trumble. They took on many adventures together, including homesteading in Northern Alberta and building a house together. It was there her two daughters, Allison and Megan, were born while she studied counselling. They returned to Vancouver Island in 1989 and settled in Cumberland. Diana had a love for community, for children, and for the arts in general but especially for music. She was a founding member of Vancouver Island MusicFest, Vancouver Island Folk Music Camp, and the Cumberland Culture and Arts Society which produces the Wood Stove Festival among other offerings. She ran the children's area at MusicFest until recently and was a fixture of many events throughout the community.
Diana worked for the Comox Valley Transition Society as a children's counsellor for over 20 years and would often run into people around town who would tell her about the impact she'd made on their lives.
After retirement she continued her lifelong learning, including university courses, until her death. She was dedicated to her community and family, and particularly loved being Nana to Maggie. She purchased a property in Winter Harbour, where she and her new partner Terry enjoyed many extended stays among the otters, whales, eagles and her beloved Pacific Ocean.
She is survived by Terry, sister Rosemary, daughters Megan and Allison, and granddaughter Maggie.
A service will be held at Cumberland United Church on June 14th at 3pm
