In Loving Memory ~ It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Donald Horban on May 4th, 2021 at the age of 80 with his cherished partner Joan Rein of 30 years by his side.
Don had battled bladder cancer for several years and in December 2020 was further diagnosed with stage 4 gallbladder cancer. Don fought hard but the cancer and treatments proved overwhelming.
Don was born and raised in Franchere Bay, near Glendon, AB and was a meat cutter by trade. He had a love for fishing, food and most of all family. Known as always being a hard worker, Don often strived to help others out where he could.
He enjoyed travel when the opportunity arose and spoke of many fond memories of his trips to Hawaii and Mexico. He was truly hoping for another trip with Joan whom he loved dearly.
Don is survived by his beautiful daughter Teryl, and his son Greg. He leaves a lasting legacy with Joan's two youngest, Holly and Daniel for whom he was a major influence in their lives and their upbringing, as well as Joan's two oldest children Rochelle and Dallas. Don also leaves behind his many grandchildren whom he loved speaking to and spending time with.
Rest well Don, it was a challenging and difficult road for you the last few years. We are grateful and we cherish the time we had with you and the moments of joy we all shared. You will always be remembered as a kind, generous man.
Win or lose, a bad day fishing beats a good day working.
