Eloise Hilda Tobacca passed away peacefully on May 25, 2025, at Glacier View Lodge in Courtenay, B.C., at the age of 90. Born in Wisetown, Saskatchewan on November 3, 1934, Eloise lived a life marked by resilience, hard work, and a deep love for her family and community.
Eloise was predeceased by her parents William (Bill) and Helen Boyd; brothers Ralph and Reginald Boyd; sisters-in-law Norma and Bonnie Boyd; brother-in-law Steve Cosman; her beloved son Randy Tobacca; and good friend George Allen. She is lovingly remembered by her brothers Lowell and Barry (Karen) Boyd; sister Doris Cosman, sister-in-law Anne Boyd, sons Bruce (Linda), Tobacca, Wayne (Karen) Tobacca, Frank (Kelly) Schuman as well as 12 grandchildren, Michele (Chad)Walls, Brian (Marleah) Tobacca, Kristy (Richard) Ethier, Jamie (Aimee) Tobacca, Steven (Alex) Tobacca, Blake (Lindsey) Tobacca, Carrie (Tyler) Sjoberg, Raeann (Mark) Tobacca, Chris (Sheena) Tobacca, Frank (Erin) Schuman, Randy Schuman, Cohen Schuman, and 28 great-grandchildren who will carry forward her legacy.
Eloise was a force of nature; she was very independent and lived her life in her own way. She led an active life continuing to work on her farm until her late 80's. She had many talents, she had a gift for making crafts, she built her own home on the farm, she loved to square dance, play ball, tennis, curl, and garden and she was an avid storyteller. Eloise was a world traveller and was a snowbird at the Fountain of Youth in California for several years.
The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the doctors, nurses and care teams at North Island Hospital and Glacier View Lodge for their incredible support and care.
A memorial service will be held at
Piercy's Mt. Washington Funeral Home,
440 England Avenue, Courtenay BC on
Friday June 20th at 1:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations to Glacier View Lodge or the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be graciously accepted.
