December 18, 1942 - April 18, 2025
With heavy hearts, we announce the peaceful passing of Eve Zanussi (Ternan) on April 18, 2025, surrounded by her loving family at the Hamlets in Vernon. At 82, she leaves behind a legacy of love, joy, and treasured memories. She is survived by her devoted husband, Gerry, her daughters Pam (Darren) and Christine (Bill), and her beloved grandchildren, Sasha, Griffin, Tyler, Brayden, and Emerson.
Eve brought warmth and light to all who knew her. She was a devoted wife, a caring mother, a proud grandmother, and a cherished friend. Her quick wit, adventurous spirit, and radiant smile made her truly unforgettable.
After growing up in Rossland, B.C., she moved to Vancouver where she pursued her teaching certificate at UBC. Soon after, she began her career in a one room schoolhouse in the Slocan Valley. In 1964, she married Gerry, and their journey took them across Canada, including Trenton, Greenwood, Winnipeg, Argentia, Nfld, and Comox, B.C. After retiring from a dedicated teaching career, Eve convinced Gerry to settle in Vernon following the birth of their first grandchild, Sasha. There, she embraced an active and joyful life, filled with tennis, skiing, swimming, biking, golfing, walking, curling, gardening, painting, bridge, and treasured friendships.
Her greatest pride and joy came from being 'Nana.' She adored her grandchildren and shared with them her endless love and support.
Rest in peace, Eve/Mom/Nana—your laughter, love, and zest for life will always remain in the hearts of those who loved you.
The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the fourth-floor care team at the Hamlets in Vernon for their incredible support and care during Eve's final years.
A Celebration of Life to honor Eve will be held on May 31st at 2pm at the Prestige Vernon Lodge.
