George Richard Bates
April 26, 1954 - September 23, 2017
George passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family and friends after a long and courageous battle with cancer.
He is survived by his wife Janine; children Jackson (Marina), Ashley (Nathan); step-children Chad (Angela), and Jeffrey; siblings Joanne (Ray), Lynne (Larry), and Jay (Shelley).
He will be fondly remembered by his grandchildren Seraph, Miriam, Agnes, Beatrix, Nash, and Mackenzie. He was predeceased by his parents George and Elisabeth Bates.
George was a terrific husband, loving father, doting grandfather, and an amazing brother and friend. He was a gifted musician and artist. He loved to travel the world with Janine, happily dancing everywhere they went.
George will always be remembered for his incredible work ethic, his loving loyalty, and willingness to lend a hand wherever needed. He gave energetically while volunteering with his fellow Kinsmen.
We will miss his endless energy, mischievous sense of humor, and how he touched lives with his charming smile and big personality.
We would like to express our heartfelt thanks to all the health care professionals who provided kindness and support to George and his family throughout his illness.
