It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Klara Montalbetti (nee Koerber) at the Rimbey Hospital and Care Centre in Rimbey, Alberta on June 29, 2025 - 86 years old.
Klara was born in Poland on March 6, 1939 and immigrated to Canada in March, 1948 arriving on Vancouver Island in the Duncan/Cowichan area. She graduated and carried on to Teacher's College in Victoria. She then travelled in Europe for a few years eventually coming back to Edmonton. This is where she met Arthur Montalbetti, a Toronto Dominion bank manager. They married on June 29, 1968. Over the next 12 years, they moved with the bank living in several Alberta communities including Barrhead, Cardston and Elk Point. Klara was able to carry on her teaching in each community.
In 1980 they moved to Courtenay, British Columbia. Klara became the teacher/librarian at Courtenay Elementary School until she retired in 1999, a job she very much loved. Art passed away in November, 2012. Klara stayed in the Comox Valley until moving to Rimbey in 2023.
Klara is survived by her stepson Robert, his two sons, his wife Denise and her children as well as her grandchildren, as well as nieces, nephews and cousins.
Klara enjoyed her hobbies - knitting, gardening, her school involvement and her love to travel. She and Art enjoyed their freshwater fishing, camping and fastball games.
Klara had many friends from various walks of life and she will be missed by many.
