April 16, 1968- March 8, 2017

It is with great sadness to announce the passing of Lené on March 8, 2017 at St. Joseph’s Hospice in Comox.

She was born in Port Alberni to Michael Shewchuk and Lynne Simmons.

Lené played softball and graduated from APSS in 1986.

It wasn’t until Lené moved to Vancouver where she developed her love for running. While there she worked at Arbutus Roofing where she met her first husband and father to daughters, Sydney and Camryn.

In August of 1994, they moved to the Comox Valley, shortly after their first daughter, Sydney was born.

Lené worked for the government for a short amount of time before following her dream of opening Extreme Runners in 1998. Following the opening of Extreme Runners, Lené’s second daughter, Camryn was born in 1999.

In 2003, after the separation from her first husband Lené fell in love with her second husband, Pat and together raised their four children.

As a family, they enjoyed fishing, camping and road trips for soccer tournaments. In 2007, the family moved into their new home Pat built.

In July 2016, after owning Extreme Runners for almost 20 years, Lené sold her business before starting her battle with cancer. Although, her battle was short she fought really hard and never gave up.

Lené is survived and missed by her partner, Pat, daughters, Sydney and Camryn, stepdaughter, Brooke-Lynn and stepson, Jason, parents Lynne (Ernie), Mike (Sharon), brother Mike (Mimi), nieces, Tori, Nicole and nephew, Jake, sisters-in-law, Leslie (Richard) and Ruth and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
