It is with great sadness that we share the news of the sudden death of our beloved father, Patrick Arthur Rogers, in the early hours of Sept. 19th.
Pat was pre-deceased by the love of his life, his wife of 42 years, Dulcie Rogers, as well as his siblings: Ralph Rogers, James Rogers, Ignance Poittris, Moneca Gentray, Helen Poittris, and his mother Lillian Poittris. He is survived by his sister Mary Stewart and his 2 children Meagan Rogers, and Sean (Jessica) Rogers, and his grandchildren Sebastian, Camille, and Gabrielle Rogers.
Pat was born in 1941 in Saskatchewan, but spent his formative years in Vancouver and Chilliwack, and built a life with Dulcie on the island, starting in Campbell River, and Merville and settling in the Comox Valley.
Pat appreciated the simple things in life, but was also excited to see much of the world, including glaciers calving in Alaska, sheep being shorn in New Zealand, the Great Wall of China, and the Great Barrier Reef.
A commercial insulator, Pat worked all over BC and the US and made many friends in the work place, as well as fellow card players and parents. With quick wit and a calm demeanor, Pat listened more than he spoke, but when he did speak, everyone listened, because it was sure to be story not to be missed.
Services will be held in the family home on Saturday, September 30th. Viewing from 3-5 PM and short eulogies and reception to follow. Per Pat's wishes, please do not send flowers.
