Bob was born October 1, 1932 in Nappan NS and passed away peacefully on his terms surrounded by family May 31, 2018 at The North Island Comox Valley Hospital.
Predeceased by his parents Creighton & Reta, his son Wayne, his brothers Leon, Garnet & Leland, Bob is survived by his wife of 65 years Thelma; his daughter Donna Waldon (Steve); his sons Roger & Gary; 8 grandchildren Lindsay; Scott (Jen); Tanya (Chris); Jillian (Ryan); Stephanie; Derek (Victoria); Robert (Stephanie); Crystal (Chris); and 12 great grandchildren.
Bob is also survived by his brothers Sterling (Joan); Murray (Paulette); and his sister Gwyneth Barrie and many other family members.
Bob joined the RCAF in 1951 and enjoyed postings to Trenton, Ont; North Bay, Ont; 4F Wing Baden Baden, Germany; Summerside, PEI, and a final posting to Comox where he retired from the military in 1977. He worked for DND from 1979-1992.
After retirement Bob & Thelma enjoyed many travels across Canada and the USA in their 5th wheel wintering in Arizona and cruises through Europe, the Caribbean and the Panama Canal. Bob was an avid sportsman and in his younger days played fastball, hockey and curling.
He was a 49 year member of the Comox Golf Club. Bob & Thelma also enjoyed square dancing for 56 years and loved the old time dances. Bob was a volunteer at the Evergreen Seniors kitchen for almost 20 years.
The family wishes to acknowledge the kind & compassionate care Bob received from Dr. Gee, Dr. Reggler, Dr. Dawadi, Nursing staff at Comox Valley Hospital as well as the caregivers and nurses from Community Health Services. The family appreciates the many phone calls, messages of condolences and offers of help received from family & friends.
As per Bob's wishes, there will be no service. If friends so desire, donations in his name can be made to Comox Valley Hospice or the Canadian Red Cross.
