April 2, 1921 - February 20, 2017

Rose was born in Hot Springs, Wyoming and came to Canada when she was 2 years old. Her mother passed away suddenly when Rose was just 13 years old, so she had to quit school to raise her 3 year old brother. She later married Stan and raised their sons, Don and Norm, while living in Bamfield and then Port Alberni. After the boys were grown, Rose and Stan moved to the lower mainland where they lived until Stan passed away in 1978. Rose continued living on her own until the spring of 2000 when she moved to Courtenay to live close to family.

Rose’s passion in life was showing and breeding her dogs. She was the first person to bring an Australian Terrier to Canada. For over 40 years she showed her dogs all over Canada and the United States. She developed an international reputation for having one of the finest pedigrees in the Canadian and American Kennel Clubs. The offsprings of Rose’s dogs were widely sought after and now live all over the world. She was very knowledgeable and very respected in the world of show dogs.

Rose was predeceased by her husband Stan and her son Don. She is survived by her brother Bob Dunbar in Sooke, her son Norm (Sandi), grandsons Brandon (Kelly) and Dustin (Lisa), and great-granddaughter Madison Rose. The family would like to thank Dr. Lisa Benson and all of the wonderful people who looked after ‘Rosie’ at the Comox Valley Seniors Village Residential Care. Their compassion and kindness was so appreciated.

A tea to remember Rose will be held at a later date.
