It is with great sadness that the family of Sarah (Sadie) Coates announces her passing at Eagle Park Heath Care Facility, Qualicum Beach B.C. on January 30, 2014.
Sadie went peacefully to join her Late husband Frank, sister Irene and parents Daniel and Elizabeth Morgan.
Sadie is survived by: her brothers Robert and Jimmy and Sister鈥檚 in Law Eileen (Arfie) and Rita, nephews; Wayne (Amelia), John (Charmaine), Dale, Bruce, Doug and Jimmy (Judy), nieces; Margo (Dave), Debbie, Anne, Roberta and Noreen, 6 great nieces, 5 great nephews, 4 great great nieces and 3 great great nephews.
Home to Sadie was the Comox Valley for the majority of her life. Born in Lanarkshire, Scotland, Sadie immigrated to Canada in May 1925 at age 3. Sadies early years were spent in Cumberland where she attended school, sought employment and married Frank Coates in August 1946. Sadies chosen career was in finance were she was employed by the Royal Bank in Cumberland and later, Payroll Officer for the City of Courtenay. A job from which she retired in July on 1986. Always the gracious hostess, Sadie made all who knew her welcome at her beach home in Little River, Comox. Many Special memories were created there and will be cherished forever.
To be closer to family, Sadie moved from the Comox Valley in 2008 and took residence at 鈥淭he Gardens鈥�, Qualicum Beach.
She never tired of reminiscing about her love for dancing, curling and her trips to Hawaii with family and friends. The pleasure she received from the musical entertainment at both the 鈥淕ardens鈥� and 鈥淓agle Park鈥� facilities was evident on her face and in her smile.
Her quick wit, sense of humour and spontaneous smile will be sadly missed but fondly remembered. With her health failing, Eagle Park Health Care Facility became her residence in 2012 until January 30, 2014.
Thank you to each and every departmental staff member at Eagle Park for the attentiveness, compassion and dignity with which you have shown our Sadie throughout her stay and final days. It did not go unnoticed and was very much appreciated by the family. Thank you as well to Dr. Hugh Fletcher for the care provided.
Funeral Service to be held at Piercy鈥檚 Mt. Washington Funeral Chapel, 440 England Avenue, Courtenay on Friday February 7 at 1:00pm. Interment at Cumberland Cemetery. Donations may be made in Sadies memory to a charity of your choice.
