Dear editor,On the afternoon of March 10, members of Comox Valley ElderCollege had a memorable experience. The tour of 19 Wing was such a special event and very much appreciated by everyone who took part.We felt privileged to have been given this opportunity. Preceded as it was by an informative lecture, the day will undoubtedly be counted among ElderCollege highlights.Of course the organization, colour coded and courteous, worked with perfect military precision. No one was left behind! We were made to feel so welcome and our questions, though often naive, were answered with detail, respect and humour. From clambering through the Cormorant to peering into the cockpit of the Aurora, we experienced one interesting activity after another. Having a Search And Rescue Tech demonstration in such poor weather gave us just a touch of how they carry out their impressive and award-winning rescues. We would like to pass on our sincere thanks to the members of 19 Wing of the Royal Canadian Air Force who gave such a fine afternoon to so many ElderCollege members. Although we may previously have felt a special connection to 19 Wing, there is no doubt that after this tour, the connection is even deeper and held with even more pride. On behalf of all of our members, please accept our sincere thanks for enabling this very special event to take place.Terry McGrawEditor's note: Terry McGraw is on the Comox Valley ElderCollege communications committee.
