Dear Editor,
The giving spirit of Comox Valley residents is greatly appreciated by the Comox Valley Glacier Grannies, who raise funds for the Grandmothers to Grandmothers Campaign of the Stephen Lewis Foundation.
With the support of our community, we were able to raise nearly $7,000 from our annual Spring Sale held on May 10 at the Comox United Church. As part of the global AIDS response, the campaign works in solidarity with African grandmothers raising their orphaned grandchildren. It has supported community-led organizations in 14 countries since 2006.
With the present uncertainty in funding through USAID, and the disruption in the delivery of antiretroviral drugs, these organizations are in dire need. The importance of the money that you helped us raise cannot be overstated.
Every dollar from the Spring Sale went to the Campaign, and your purchases will make a difference to the African grandmothers, their grandchildren and their communities.
Thank you for your help!
