Liberals sticking it to taxpayers

The Liberals are at it again, and I am referring to deception, in their stick ads promoting the HST.

Dear editor,

The Liberals are at it again, and I am referring to deception. In their stick ads promoting the HST, they show a man sitting beside a tall, wobbly pile representing the PST and he is not happy. Then he is looking at a similar pile representing the GST, not good. Then he sees the combined pile, the HST, now portrayed as a much smaller pile, and neatly stacked. Much better – and he smiles.

Of course, the combined HST is a greater burden of taxes than the PST and GST, and should have been shown as a larger pile. But the purpose is not to inform people accurately, but to deceive.

Likewise, the PST and GST are portrayed as tall wobbly piles (something we are a bit nervous about) and the HST is not only shown as smaller but as a low, neatly stacked pile (ah, that’s better!) This is really quite sophisticated deception, but not surprising– the Liberals are quite experienced at this sort of thing.

And then, the little man scratches his head over the PST and GST piles as if he is struggling to do an income tax return, but looks at the HST pile and has no trouble at all. In actual fact, you don’t have to calculate any of these taxes –  the cash register does that. The only difference is that the HST will add a larger amount to your bill.

At the bottom of these ads, in small letters, it states, “Paid for by the Government of BC”. This really takes the cake – using our tax money to promote a lie. Yes, it is the same old Liberals. Do you trust them? Can we trust them with anything?
