Dear editor,
One is struck by the hypocrisy of Comox council and staff at their claim to be owed $2.35 million by Courtenay, since a defective septic gauge was discovered.
It seems that the mantra used by Paul Ives that “That was then this is now” liberally applied to the professionally estimated $500K to $1million+ missing from the Hamilton Mack Laing Trust account, does not apply.
In fact, money can be taken from a vulnerable old man, even a national figure, Heritage BC letters ignored, and even trusts – re-written to suit council, when Comox Council owes money and obligations “in trust.”
Given Comox’s illustrious track record in respecting contracts inherent in a trust, Courtenay should feel free to re-write any contractual trust obligations it has with Comox.
