Comox Valley swimmers claim gold at provincial school championships

Representing G.P. Vanier and Mark R. Isfeld high schools, 10 Comox Valley Sharks swimmers competed at the BC School Sports Provincial Championships in Richmond on the Nov. 19/20 weekend.

Representing G.P. Vanier and Mark R. Isfeld high schools, 10 Comox Valley Sharks swimmers competed at the BC School Sports Provincial Championships in Richmond on the Nov. 19/20 weekend.

The girls of Isfeld came away with three provincial championships, dominating the relay events.

The team of Laine Perry, Grace Revenberg, Iris Tinmouth and Nadia Macluskie brought the championship trophy home for the 4x50 medley relay to begin the meet, and then to conclude the meet Tinmouth, Revenberg and Macluskie teamed up with Grace’s younger sister, Ava Revenberg, to capture the 4x50 freestyle relay crown.

Individually, Tinmouth was also crowned provincial champion in the 100m butterfly. The Grade 12 student concluded her high school season leading Isfeld to three provincial titles.

Other top results for Isfeld swimmers included Jordan Raume with an eighth-place finish in 100m breast and 11th place in 50m free; Grace Revenberg with a 12th-place finish in 100m breaststroke, and the mixed relay team of Revenberg, Perry, Raume and Nathan Johnson finishing fifth in the 4x50 medley relay. The sole representative of Vanier did not disappoint as Sadie Williams had a packed schedule with finished fourth in 50m free, ninth in 100m free and 15th in the 100m butterfly.
