Podium of Life athletes fared well in the skier cross held last weekend at Mount Washington.
Including the Armstrong family visiting from Ontario, who were checking out the Podium of Life for next year, six out of eight athletes medalled. In fact the Podium of Life members in the 11-13 age class swept the podium: Kole Harle (gold), Brandon Armstrong (silver), and Logan Frame (bronze).
This new ski race event, skier cross, compliments the new form of education at the Podium of Life Ski Academy. "It is good to see youth doing so well and getting a chance to experience an alternate form of education," says Lance Stewardson, co-owner of Mainstream Biological Consulting.
Paul Wernicke, in his first race ever, battled hard but did not progress. Maja Nymann won gold in the womens 11-13 age categories and her sister Silvie Nymann won a silver in the 10 and under group. Jesse Armstrong achieved gold in the 14-18 women's category. Her older brother wiped out in the semi finals near the finish line and did not qualify for the 18+ finals.
It was a well attended event full of excitement and fun for all, a Podium of Life spokesperson said. Full results are posted at.
