The Port Alberni Bombers have the Comox Valley Glacier Kings on the brink of elimination in the Vancouver Island Junior Hockey League (VIJHL) playoffs.
The Bombers took a 3-0 lead in the best-of-seven series on Sunday, March 2 with a 4-1 win at home.
After a scoreless first period, the Glacier Kings opened scoring with a goal from Suhaan Nagra in the second period. But the Bombers tied things up just over a minute later with a shorthanded marker from Bostyn MacDonald.
The score was deadlocked at 1-1 until the very end of the third period, when the Bombers exploded with three goals in the last three minutes to take the game 4-1. Scorers for the Bombers were Luke Ridgway, Sean Richards and Grayson Salmon. Comox Valley goaltender Luca Vanzo made 26 saves on the night, while Port Alberni goaltender made 21 saves for the win.
The two teams will return to the Comox Valley Sports Centre for Game 4 on Tuesday, March 4, where the Glacier Kings will try to stave off elimination. Puck drop is at 7:15 p.m.
