VIDEO: Dachshunds dash to the finish in fierce race at Victoria Pet Expo

The event offered a mix of entertainment, education and shopping, with more than 80 pet-related vendors

Pet lovers and their four-legged companions were in for a treat this spring as the Victoria Pet Expo returned for a two-day event on May 3 and 4.

Held at Saanich's G.R. Pearkes Recreation Centre, the event offered a mix of entertainment, education and shopping, with more than 80 pet-related vendors, workshops and live shows.

Highlights included the popular SuperDogs show, the crowd-favourite Dachshund Dash races, and professional pet photo sessions.

The event also featured expert-led seminars on pet health, behaviour and communication, with tips on everything from reducing anxiety to boosting the immune system.

Attendees tried hands-on workshops to learn how to bathe their pets, clip nails, and make treats.

Contests and prizes were held throughout the weekend, with all activities designed to let guests learn, play and connect with their pets in fun and practical ways.
