Come out and join an upcoming spring clean-up and help make Courtenay shine!

The city will be hosting a community clean-up event on Saturday, June 3, from 10 a.m. to noon.

Community volunteers will meet at Harmston Park at 10 a.m., rain or shine, for a safety orientation. City staff will distribute trash pickers/grabbers, bags, and gloves. Volunteers are then invited to pick up trash in the area around the park including the downtown core and nearby trails.

Staff with city vehicles will be at designated locations to pick up collected materials for disposal.

Volunteers must register by signing up ahead of time. Visit for more information. Minors must be accompanied by a parent or guardian for the event.

“This clean-up will bring together community members in a wonderful way,” said Wells. “Every effort to help keep our community clean makes an impact.”

Garbage and debris in urban and natural environments, if not removed, can get washed into storm drains, creeks, and waterways. Keeping our parks, streets, and sidewalks clean helps keep debris out of the estuary and the ocean.
